TodaysArt 2016 finalizes SHAPE lineup

Hot on the heels of our recent We Are Europe announcement, we’ve got more European network news to divulge: our SHAPE lineup for TodaysArt 2016 is now complete. Having already confirmed NONOTAK, Charlotte Bendiks and Klara Lewis, among others, we’ve invited two The Hague collectives: idiosyncratic, artist-run platform iii and the new wave of the West Coast sound, record label-cum-nightlife militia BAKK.

With no less than 16 associated festivals, SHAPE is one of two European networks – We Are Europe being the other – of which we are a proud founding-member. Co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union, SHAPE is a platform for innovative music and audiovisual art that aims to support, promote and exchange innovative and aspiring musicians and interdisciplinary artists with an interest in sound.

Running from 2015 to 2017, SHAPE presents a variety of idiosyncratic music and sonic art from all over Europe, and provide audiences and professionals with insightful lectures, talks and workshops by experts in various fields related to sound and performance. Each year, the 16 involved associations collectively select 48 creatively strong artists and musicians to participate in a mix of live performances, residencies, workshops and talks across festivals and special events.

We hosted our first ever SHAPE program at last year’s TodaysArt Festival on the pier. Joining us from the illustrious 48-strong SHAPE lineup then were, among others, Milanese trance experimentalist Lorenzo Senni, Lisbon’s Principe Discos stalwart DJ Niggafox, Parisian techno don Low Jack and local The Hague producer Torus.

This year, we’re upping the ante slightly, inviting no less than 10 SHAPE artists for our return the heart of The Hague. Already confirmed for TodaysArt Festival 2016’s SHAPE program are Piotr Kurek, Klara Lewis, Charlotte Bendiks, Julien Bayle, NONOTAK, Masayoshi Fujita, Antivj and We will fail. To complete the SHAPE bill, those 8 artists will be joined by two local, The Hague collectives: idiosyncratic, artist-run platform iii and the new wave of the West Coast sound, record label-cum-nightlife militia BAKK.

The SHAPE lineup will be presented on the Friday and Saturday of TodaysArt Festival 2016, which takes place in The Hague from the 22nd to the 25th of September. Tickets for TodaysArt Festival 2016 are now on sale and are available here.
