Have a look at the partner program by Studio LOOS, located on the premises of the Electricity Factory. It is a hotspot for new developments in experimental interdisciplinary music in The Hague. Founded as a physical space in 2005, it has been a meeting place and breeding ground for local and international artists of the contemporary classical world, improv scene, and the electronic scene.
LOOS is a concert venue, workspace, laboratory, and platform for interdisciplinary electro-acoustic music, sound art, improvisation, composition, monomedia, bimedia, and hypermedia. Students and alumni of local and international art and music institutes, as well as people who have nothing to do with academia at all, find a place there to create or experience new works in a flexible space with state-of-the-art technical equipment. LOOS itself was set up in 1982 under the leadership of Peter J.A. van Bergen, who is still the director of the foundation and the studio.
The program presented at TodaysArt ranges from intuitive music and interactive electronic works to AV-performances, involving acoustic instruments and digital instruments developed at LOOS, artificial intelligence, field recordings of far-away countries, and the contribution of the legendary Evan Parker. The diverse program is a reflection of the regular artistic and musical life at LOOS.
