Natalia Alfutova and Yaroslav Kravtsov – FACED2FACED
FACED2FACED will bring you face-to-face with your social media doppelgänger, whose head is 3D-projected in the palm of your hand using AR, and who is trained with the very information you have shared on the internet.
From the very start of civilization, humans have been wary of their look-alikes. In most traditional cultures, doubles were considered sinister and dangerous, and in the era of Romanticism, meeting with a doppelgänger (German for ‘double’) was a harbinger of death. Most internet users don’t realize that by being active on social networks, they are bringing up their digital doubles, and our identity spills all over the world. Because of this, it becomes more and more difficult for a real person to be separated from the image they create on the web.
Natalia Alfutova was born in Moscow and studied Mathematics at the Moscow State University, Film Directing at ‘Higher Director’s Courses’ Moscow, and Multimedia Art at The Rodchenko Art School (Moscow). In 2014, she founded Mediamead art studio. Artworks from this studio are a mix of math, cinema and multimedia art.
This is project is supported by the SDV Arts&Science Foundation.
