Over the past few years, blockchain and cryptocurrency have outgrown their core community of developers and early adopters and spread to the masses. This includes banks and businesses, sports and politics. Crypto-millionaires have multiplied almost as rapidly as CryptoKitties have.
Beyond the current goldrush mentality, blockchain must be examined as a disruptive force with a multitude of implications and applications for the field of electronic music and the digital arts. It is imperative that we inject the needs and values of our artistic practices and cultures into the development of this new technology.
TodaysArt is interested in this technology, and is part of Blockchain My Art. This project is an exploration of potential applications of blockchain in the context of venues and festivals, ticketing, cashless systems and the values for the cultural sector.
