Aïsha Devi ft. MFO present ∞E=TRv
Swiss artist Aïsha Devi will make her TodaysArt debut at this year’s festival edition. We look forward to her brand new show ∞E=TRv, which is Devi’s transcendence and continuum energy formula, inspired by Planck’s constant. For this piece, she will team up with the Berlin-based visual artist MFO.
Devi, a radical alchemist, uses her voice as a powerful tool in a repertoire that includes thumping beats and rave stabs, seraphic and guttural throat singing, mystical linguistics and corporeal sonics. Her work is spiritual, owing to her Tibetan-Nepalese heritage, and her AV-shows are known to be truly transcendental. She applies meditation techniques in her approach to production and performance, channelling metaphysical research, ritualistic practise and healing frequencies into an alternate club paradigm. Her mesmeric digital mantras and captivating stage presence have bowled over crowds at CTM, Mutek, Unsound, Boiler Room, and countless other festivals.
Visual artist Marcel Weber, aka MFO, works with memory and perception, identity formation and dissolution – particularly in the context of possible futures and their underlying mythologies. His work is marked by a well-defined and distinctive aesthetic, using atmospheric light that both resonates with and forms a relationship to sound. For ∞E=TRv, he will work with these lights to create an immersive, otherworldly atmosphere.
