Lanark Artefax

The young experimental techno artist Lanark Artefax has recently grown out into one of the most mentioned and hailed new techno producers. The young Scot fuses ambient, cinematic techno with IDM’s abstractions into a world of ancient artefacts and dubious historic materials.

Lanark Artefax, an English literature graduate in day-to-day life, seems to have emerged from a darkness of nothing, strikingly fitting with his fascination for mythology and sci-fi. And indeed, while Calum MacRae only has two 12-inches and an EP to his name, his peculiar sound has already caught the attention of Aphex Twin and Björk, as well as audiences across the globe.

Lanark plays with the real and surreal and the connection in between, always building up to a perfect climax but never sticking too much to the dance roots of club music. His widely-acclaimed album Whities 011 was released on the label Whities last year.

This performance is presented in the framework of We Are Europe in collaboration with c/o pop.
