HeHe – Radiant Beach

"The beach will be partly transformed into a fluorescent dune landscape."

HeHe – Radiant Beach

Hehe is an artists duo founded in Paris in 1999 by Helen Evans and Heiko Hansen. By working with light, sound and image, they look at the relationship between the individual and his architectural and urban environment. For TodaysArt, they have created a performative installation in which the beach will be partly transformed into a fluorescent dune landscape called: ‘Radiant Beach’. HeHe will paint on the Sand of Scheveningen, creating ‘Glow in the dark dunes’ generated by genetic modification. The green sand is reminiscent of nature being polluted by urban contaminated substances, radio activity or utopian future technologies. The green colour is also common in advanced experiments within new technologies, ecology and toxicity, and makes one wonder about the connection between man and nature.
