HC Gilje has moved between installation, video, live performance and set design since he graduated from the intermedia department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Trondheim in 1999.

In 2006 Gilje started a longer term project which he has called ‘Conversations with Spaces’. This project explores perception of change and transformation where the ephemeral media of light, projection, sound and motion and physical structures meet. This has resulted in a series of installations labeled ‘Projected Light Spaces’ and ‘Projected Light Objects’, as well as outdoor sound installations and more recently light-motion installations such as ‘in transit’, ‘revolver’ and ‘trace’. In ‘trace’ HC Gilje works with motion and light passing through objects and spaces.

Recent exhibitions include Woodstreet Galleries, IMAL, Galleri 21, Sonic Acts, Insititut Valencia d´Art Modern, Brussels Biennial. Apart from exhibitions, Gilje has presented his work throughout the world in concert venues, theatres and cinemas, at festivals, in the outdoors and through several international DVD releases.

HC Gilje’s work will be on display as part of the exhibition ‘the fluidity aspect’, which runs from the 25th of September until the 5th of October. Find more information about the exhibition here.
