Thomas Ankersmit and the Serge synthesizer

In this workshop, musician and composer Thomas Ankersmit will engage in a discussion about his experience working with the Serge synthesizer on a deep level. In the context of his performance at TodaysArt, he will speak shortly about the musical vision of Dutch modernist painter Piet Mondriaan and how this influenced the piece he made for the festival. Ankersmit will discuss his experimental approach to analogue synthesis, how he uses the instrument live and in the studio, and some history of Serge synthesizers. This workshop is for a small group of participants and will include a Q&A, as well as some time to explore and play around with the instrument.
