Australian-born Phoebe Kiddo grew up in a family that surrounded itself with music and began cultivating very early a keen ear for multifaceted, expressive electronics.
Filled with syncopated rhythms, dark atmospherics, and copious sub-bass, her music fuses dancefloor rhythms with cerebral experimentation. Following completion of a degree in Sound from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, this globetrotting artist moved to California for a San Francisco based artist residency and soon after participated in the 2011 Red Bull Music Academy in Madrid. She’s now living in Berlin. Her debut LP, ‘Artefacts of Broken Dreams’ was recorded in all these different cities.
Phoebe Kiddo is performing at TodaysArt as part of the Berlin Current program presented by CTM Festival. Berlin’s reputation as a world music capital is undisputed. Creative minds from around the world have long flocked to the city in search of advantageous conditions for their work, radically expanding Berlin’s musical diversity. But what truly adventurous sounds and musics are currently arising from the city’s maelstrom of simultaneously sounding musical styles and cultures? With Berlin Current, CTM Festival puts an ear to the scene and presents new, future-oriented musical ideas from Berlin. Berlin Current is supported by the Musicboard Berlin.
