DROPSTUFF.nl – THE BRIDGE NL-SE
DROPSTUFF.nl realises a live connection between Sweden and the Netherlands through 'THE BRIDGE' two large screen-units connected through internet and in depth movement sensor technologies. Visitors in both countries can see and meet each other.
Six exciting games were specially developed for this project by Dutch game designers and artists.
DROPSTUFF.nl is a media network, pioneer in media arts in public space and urban interactive artistic experiences. DROPSTUFF.nl transmits through video art works, artistic games and interactive installations. THE BRIDGE is the newest project that experiments with motion detection and live connection between different cities in an international context. Since 2005, DROPSTUFF.nl has presented media art works both in Dutch as international festivals and biennials. DROPSTUFF.nl has the ambition to extend their activities to a worldwide scale, to bring people in different cities in contact with one another.
This year, 2014, Sweden and The Netherlands commemorate that 400 years ago a treaty was signed which also allowed the establishment of the first Swedish Embassy in the world, in The Hague, in 1614. In order to celebrate this, the Netherlands Embassy in Sweden and the Swedish Embassy in The Netherlands organize a cultural programme and other events that highlight the good relationship that exists between the two countries. THE BRIDGE NL-SE is part is of this programme.
