‘Zo niet, dan toch’ is the first Dutch festival that takes place entirely in the virtual world, putting augmented reality and location-based virtual projects on the map.

The festival allows visitors a new way of experiencing visual arts, entertainment, film, architecture, theatre, dance and music. The festival explores the virtual stage where nothing is impossible and everyone has access. The ticket is already in your pocket: your mobile phone. The festival takes place since Saturday 7th September, across Amsterdam North and shows existing and new work by artists, designers and hackers. 'Zo niet, dan toch' festival is an initiative of Sander Veenhof en Klasien van de Zandschulp.

During TodaysArt 2013 'Zo niet, dan toch' demonstrates various projects as part of the Creative Code Symposium program.

Silent Mobile Disco
A project by Mark Meeuwenoord, Arjan Scherpenisse, Klasien van de Zandschulp
Silent Mobile Disco combines listening to music on your phone with “disco dancing” and gaming. You start the game via your mobile phone, which automatically matches you
to a person listening to the same track. When you find the person who dances to the same rhythm and throwing the same ‘moves’ you earn points. Bring your phone and headphones with you!

Meet Your Stranger
A project by Sander Veenhof, Victor de Vries
Meet Your Stranger is ‘open source’ do-it-yourself theater. Via mobile Internet you will receive half of a dialogue that is relevant to your current location. The other half is your opponent’s. Any smartphone owner in your area that also happens to be browsingmeetyourstranger.com.

Teken Over
A project by Luciano Pinna, Lauren M. Dyer
Do you want to add work to the expo yourself? What would you like to change at the TodaysArt festival? Teken Over takes you to a world where everything is possible: your own creation at the expo, palm trees on the stage... you name it! Every visitor with a smartphone or tablet can join and view this virtual DIY expo.
