ArtScience, the interfaculty of the Royal Conservatoire and the Royal Academy of Art, explores the correlation between arts and the sciences, striving to subsequently find new ways of interconnecting them. The aim of the study is to offer a practical and theoretical framework for a fresh generation of artists who imagine a new language of image and sound. This year, a group of ArtScience students are hitching a ride with TodaysArt and will present the first edition of the AS IF Festival, a platform for unusual art. Amongst the many different acts and installations will be "circuit dress" a performance by Nicky Assmann that takes circuit bending to a higher level. Daan Johan will perform with his "string speakers", these handmade instruments will play their extraordinary sounds in the basement of Gemak. Macular (Eric Parren & Joris Strijbos) developed an audiovisual work exclusively for the AS IF festival. The video installation "Dollhouse" by Renee Hulshoff shows that a normal, boring, family life is quite interesting if you see and hear it in a different way.
