Zur Rettung der Popkultur
Short Film Programme
This programme, called ‘Zur Rettung der Popkultur’ (Saving Pop Culture), features the fifteen best examples of German experimental music videos produced between 1998 and 2003, selected from the MuVi programme of the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen. The Oberhausen MuVi Prize is awarded for best visualization, which puts these clips in stark contrast to the vibe of expensive performer videos. These videos refuse to obey mainstream laws, re-shaping them according to their own standards, creating a parallel cultural niche which incorporates all the traditions of modern art.
